Last weekend, from July 15 – 17, another Beginners Academy took place at A Quechua poloschool in Kumberg, Austria. Having best playing conditions and sunshine with a beautiful view on the Schöckl mountain, all participants did well and could even play their first Chukka on the last day of the course…
While one woman was from Upper-Austria, another participant even took the trip from London to Graz to join our Beginners Academy, because he heard about the good quality courses, our concept and the fair pricing. The academy started Friday afternoon with basic exercises, basics about polo and some stick and ball. After the practicing and the official ending of the first day, the participants experienced what “Family and Friends Polo” really means. Instead of going home, a bonfire was set up where everyone gathered around and talked until late in the night, whilst having a few drinks and snacks.
On Saturday the course, held by 2016 Snow Polo World Cup Champion and PIPA President Dr. Uwe Seebacher, continued and you could see, that the beginners already learned a lot and did very well. In the evening, after a good and intense day of polo, everyone stayed for one or another beer and relaxed at the Lounge right beside the stablings.
On Sunday, the beginners were allowed to join the Chukkas with already experienced and advanced players that play at the polo school at least once a week. Due to their huge progress on their first two days of learning the basics of polo they played quite well and one hardly recognised that they were beginners. After the game the A Quechua team invited for the so called fifth Chukka – similar to the 19th hole in Golf – and set up an Asado, the typical and favourised meal of polo players all around the world.
We hope you enjoyed the academy, hopefully see you soon!
